COURSE DESCRIPTION AND OBJECTIVES

An introductory course of Nitrous Oxide-Oxygen administration and monitoring. Lecture focused on the recognition of dental anxiety; behavioral management; complications with nitrous oxide sedation are recognized; techniques of N2O2 discussed. Ideal for certification in monitoring nitrous oxide sedation and CE requirements to maintain nitrous oxide sedation permit

  • 1. Identify the need for nitrous oxide (N2O/O2) sedation.

  • 2. Identify mechanics of nitrous oxide sedation apparatus.

  • 3. Properly evaluate patient for the use of nitrous oxide.

  • 4. Properly administer nitrous oxide sedation based upon a client's individual needs, health, and medical history.

  • 5. Recognize and assist in the management of any emergency or complications that may result from the use of nitrous oxide (N2O/O2) and anesthetic agents.

  • 6. Identifying the signs and symptoms of N2O/O2 sedation.

  • 7. Calculate N2O/O2 percentage delivered.

  • 8. Identify legal and ethical use of nitrous oxide sedation.
