The lecture information is presented in an online format. Course work comprises of thirty hours of recorded lecture, reading, assessment and live virtual sessions. Upon completion of lecture material students must pass the examination with an 80% or higher to move on to the in person, hands-on practicum portion of the course. The practicum portion of the course includes laboratory and clinical experience. Students must demonstrate competency in administration of local anesthesia for the following injections: intraoral block anesthesia and soft tissue infiltration anesthesia for the purposes of dental hygiene therapies.
The hands-on course will comprise of one instructor to every five students with a supervising dentist from Georgia.
For Georgia practices who wish to learn together a segment of calibration and communication will be included to aid in team dynamics.
Course Requirements. 30 hours lecture, 15 hours laboratory, 15 hours clinical, equaling 60 total hours of education.
