COURSE DESCRIPTION

HYBRID LEARNING WHEN IT WORKS FOR YOU.

The lecture information is presented in an online format. Course work comprises of thirty hours of recorded lecture, reading, assessment and live virtual sessions. Upon completion of lecture material students must pass the examination with an 80% or higher to move on to the in person, hands-on practicum portion of the course. The practicum portion of the course includes laboratory and clinical experience. Students must demonstrate competency in administration of local anesthesia for the following injections: intraoral block anesthesia and soft tissue infiltration anesthesia for the purposes of dental hygiene therapies. The hands-on course will comprise of one instructor to every five students with a supervising dentist from Georgia. For Georgia practices who wish to learn together a segment of calibration and communication will be included to aid in team dynamics. Course Requirements. 30 hours lecture, 15 hours laboratory, 15 hours clinical, equaling 60 total hours of education.

What are the course fees?

Course registration covers all the course fees, but does not include the cost of the books and learning model. These amount to about $100-$150 according to Amazon prices.  Clinicians in one practice might be able to share some or all of these items as well.

How much of the information is Online versus In-person?


The Georgia board requires 60 total hours of education.
30 hours of lecture, 15 hours of lab and 15 hours of clinical.


All the lecture material is online. It is a combination of recorded lectures and live virtual sessions. The goal is to complete 1 module per week. For a total of 6 weeks of lecture material.
A small portion of the lab is completed virtually. Students will upload assignments.
The hands-on portion is the 15 hours of lab and 15 hours of clinical.
This is broken up into a period of about 3 days.

The Blue Ridge course is held on May 16th and 17th. There is limited seating register early.

Can an office do the course all together?
